Blogger Code of Ethics

Ethics are a vital component to the value, integrity and credibility of social media. Online interactions play an important role in shaping public discourse and industry conversation. While social media are often an effective way to communicate, ethical misjudgments in a viral context can have severe and damaging consequences for individuals as well as organizations. The following guidelines are paramount and further outlined in the  NPR ethics handbook for social media: accuracy, fairness, completeness, honesty, independence, impartiality, transparency, accountability, respect and excellence.

Responsible bloggers have an ethical obligation to their readers. This code of ethics came from Blogging: Bubble Or Big Deal? When And How Businesses Should Use Blogs, by Charlene Li. Original Source: Forrester Best Practice report.
